Lockheed P-38J / L / Droop Snoot / F5E "Lightning"

The Lockheed P-38 Lightning is an American single-seat, twin-piston-engined fighter aircraft used during World War II.
Developed by the Lockheed Corporation for the United States Army Air Corps, the P-38 featured a distinctive twin-boom design with a central nacelle containing the cockpit and armament.
Allied propaganda claimed the Lightning was called the "fork-tailed devil" by the Luftwaffe and "two planes, one pilot" by the Japanese.
