It features a curved canopy with only two frames and a simplified windscreen with unobstructed views. The pilot's seat was raised by approximately 180 mm, which improved visibility over the long nose and significantly facilitated landings on aircraft carriers.
The main difference between the F4U-1A and the Mk.II lies in the wingtips. The latter are shorter to better complement the aircraft and escort carriers, which are relatively small compared to US carriers.
The Royal Navy received 510 Corsair Mk.IIs—one of the two British Corsair variants to see combat. They were deployed in both Europe and the Pacific.
