Plastic kit for a North American P-51D Mustang
Initially exported to Britain, it was also adopted by the United States Army Air Corps, which had been cold toward the P-51 when the United States entered the war.
The D model featured a lowered rear fuselage upper surface and a rear-sliding bubble canopy to improve rearward visibility over the previous B and C models. Early models did not have a dorsal fin in front of the vertical stabilizer, but this was added during production to improve directional stability.
The Mustang is considered a masterpiece of World War II, and its success is due in part to its advanced design and overall design.
