The P-40M was similar to the K series.
It was originally intended exclusively for the RAF.
An Allison V-1710-81 engine replaced the Merlin.
A perforated cooling grille was installed directly in front of the exhaust stub, and a set of reinforced ailerons was installed.
The M was a long-body aircraft and differed from the K in its radio mast.
Each wing housed three .50-caliber machine guns.
