Following the example of the US military, the Israeli Air Force introduced the F-15 in 1975, importing a total of 71 aircraft of the F-15A/B/C/D models, which were nicknamed "BAZ" (Hebrew for "Eagle").
The F-15 "BAZ" is said to have shot down 40 Syrian aircraft in aerial combat over the Bekaa Valley in 1982, and photographs published in recent years confirm these kill marks.
