Thanks to its high-mounted wing and long landing gear, the Jaguar could operate from grass strips and temporary airstrips. It impressively demonstrated this capability to the national press on April 26, 1975, when the second production aircraft, Jaguar GR.1 XX109, landed by parachute on the roadway of the soon-to-be-opened M55 motorway near Blackpool.
