The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 was one of the best aircraft of the Second World War. Over 20,000 were produced from 1941 onwards. Along with the Messerschmitt Bf 109, it was the Luftwaffe's most famous fighter aircraft. The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 A-8 was equipped with a twin-row, 14-cylinder BMW 801 D-2 radial engine producing 1,700 hp and reached a top speed of 653 km/h. It was heavily armed with two MG 131 machine guns and four 20 mm MG 151 cannons. In early 1944, the A-8 version entered production, featuring a fuel injection system that allowed the engine output to be temporarily increased to over 1,900 hp. The Luftwaffe's best pilots flew this famous fighter during World War II.
