The P-40E version was the first mass-produced model powered by the V-1710 F-series engine.
In service with the U.S. Army, the fighter primarily fought on the battlefields of China, India, and the Pacific.
It was delivered to the Allies as the Kittyhawk Mk.IA.
One of the most unique battlefields where this aircraft operated was the Aleutian Islands.
There, American P-40Es and Canadian Kittyhawks had to contend not only with the Japanese enemy, but also with the unpredictable weather and natural conditions of the Aleutian Islands.
Therefore, the P-40s were modified for this battlefield. The American models were equipped with sealed exhausts and covered machine gun barrels, while the Canadian models were equipped with a special antenna system.
