The Vickers Wellington is one of the symbols of the bombing offensive against Germany.
After suffering heavy losses during daylight raids at the beginning of the war, the Wellingtons were used for night raids.
They flew in this role throughout the first half of the war.
They were then transferred to Coastal Command, where they served as anti-submarine aircraft.
They served in RAF squadrons, but foreign squadrons, including Czechoslovak, Polish, New Zealand, and Canadian, also received them.
