The original F-5A and F-5B variants are referred to as the "Freedom Fighter".
The modernized variants F-5E and F-5F "Tiger II"
From 1979 to 1990, the ROC armed forces participated in a secret military assistance program in Yemen at the request of Saudi Arabia.
This was known as the "Peace Bell Program".
Taiwanese pilots effectively formed the Yemen Arab Republic Air Force during this period.
