The Fiat G-91 single-engine fighter-bomber was developed by the Italian aviation company in the early 1950s. The design was by the renowned engineer Giuseppe Gabrielli and featured an aerodynamic design with swept wings and compact dimensions that ensured high maneuverability in flight. Thanks to its excellent performance, the G-91 won the NATO competition, which sought a tactical support aircraft that was easy to produce, yet versatile and flexible, and could equip the air units of member countries. The Fiat G-91 was used by the Italian Air Force, as well as by Germany and Portugal. In the "R" version, it was armed with four 12.7 mm machine guns mounted in the nose and could carry an offensive payload of 700 kg on underwing pylons.
