The Hurricane was powered by a liquid-cooled 12-cylinder inline Rolls-Royce Merlin engine with over 1,000 hp, allowing it to reach speeds of over 500 km/h.
Its armament of eight 7.7 mm Browning machine guns provided solid firepower.
Although slower and more aerodynamically outdated than its famous counterpart, the Supermarine Spitfire, with which it fought during the Battle of Britain, the Hurricane was more robust, less expensive, and easier to maintain and repair.
It was also easier to fly, allowing for faster pilot training, which was crucial to victory during the Battle of Britain. Famous RAF aces such as J. Johnson, W. Vale, and R. Stanford Tuck flew the Hurricane in combat.
