The Mitsubishi G4M was a twin-engined, land-based medium bomber manufactured by Mitsubishi and used by the Imperial Japanese Navy from 1940 to 1945.
The official designation is Mitsubishi Navy Type 1 Attack Bomber and it was commonly referred to as Hamaki ("Cigar") by Japanese Navy pilots due to the cylindrical shape of its fuselage and its tendency to ignite after being hit.
The Allied code name was "Betty".
