Equipped with a long, powerful L/70 7.5cm gun superior to those used by the Allies, the Jagdpanzer IV /70(V) Lang proved to be a formidable opponent after its introduction towards the end of World War II.
The "Lang" in its name was added to distinguish it from its predecessor with the shorter 7.5cm L/48 gun.
The design with the wedge-shaped glacis plate and the use of the Panzer IV chassis was adopted from the L/48 variant.
930 Jadgpanzer IV /70(V) Lang were produced between August 1944 and March 1945 and proved themselves at the front, such as in the Ardennes from December 1944, where their extraordinary range and effectiveness put the Allied forces in trouble until the end.
