Fireboats are specialized vessels equipped with powerful pumps, hoses, and water cannons to fight fires from the water. They are particularly valuable in harbors, as they can protect ships, docks, warehouses, and port facilities. Because they draw water directly from beneath the hull, they have a virtually unlimited water supply during operations.

The first fireboats appeared in the late 18th century, when tugboats were fitted with firefighting equipment. Over time, they evolved into essential workboats in major harbors worldwide. Fireboats are also known for their ceremonial water displays; they often welcome historic ships, naval fleets, or special events with massive jets of water from their fire monitors.
