The Fiat L6/40 light tank was widely used by the Italian *Regio Esercito* during World War II. Developed in the late 1930s for long-range reconnaissance and infantry support roles, it was operated by a two-man crew: the driver and the commander, who also served as the gunner.
Entering service in 1941, the vehicle was notable for its good speed and suitability for engaging light vehicles and lightly armored targets, though it proved ineffective against more heavily armored vehicles. The L6's main armament consisted of a turret-mounted 20mm cannon (Breda 20/65 Mod. 1935) and a coaxial 8mm machine gun (Breda 38). The L6/40 light tank saw action on various fronts, including North Africa, the Balkans, and the Eastern Front.
