The USS Ticonderoga (DDG/CG-47) was a guided-missile cruiser of the United States Navy.
She was the lead ship of the Ticonderoga class and the first US Navy warship equipped with the Aegis combat system. Originally ordered as a guided-missile destroyer, she was reclassified as a cruiser.
The new Aegis system enabled the Ticonderoga to track and engage numerous aerial targets more effectively than any other US Navy warship before her.
The Ticonderoga was commissioned in 1983 and decommissioned in 2004.
