Germany produced a total of 223 Panzer IV Ausf.E models. Like its predecessors, the 21-ton Ausf.E was equipped with a short-barreled 7.5 cm KwK37 L/24 cannon in the turret. Significant improvements to this variant include a new cupola design, a rear turret storage compartment, a redesigned driver's sight, and improved armor protection. The armor upgrade includes a 30 mm bolt-on plate in addition to the existing 50 mm bright armor. The Ausf.E was widely used in the German campaigns in the Balkans, North Africa, and Russia.

Dragon's latest 1:35 scale model of the Panzer IV Ausf.E is a premium edition with Magic Track, an aluminum gun barrel, brass ammunition, copper wiring, and various photo-etched parts. A bonus set of figures is also included FREE. It also offers a 3-in-1 kit option, allowing modelers to assemble a Pz.Kpfw.IV Ausf.E (early production), a late production, or a German Army (DAK) version. This provides more flexibility when building a Panzer IV from the early or middle periods of World War II.
