The Boomerang was the only Australian indigenously built fighter aircraft to see action in WWII. Boomerangs defended Australia and were also used in New Guinea and other Pacific islands.
The final reconnaissance version, designated CA-19, carried a photo camera behind the cockpit and mainly flew reconnaissance missions or marked potential targets for larger fighter-bombers.
