In October 1944, the IS-2 tanks were replaced by IS-3 tanks. In order to withstand the German King Tiger, the armor of the IS-3 was significantly reinforced by changing the body shape and a 122 mm cannon was installed. The IS-3 tanks were officially used in the summer of 1945, when a tank regiment took part in the Victory Parade in Berlin. The last use of JS-3 in World War II was during the invasion of Manchuria in August/September 1945. A total of 2,300 IS-3 tanks were produced by 1946. After WWII JS-3 were used in Hungary 1956 and by Egypt in 1967.
