The Long Range Desert Group (LRDG) was formed in Egypt in June 1940 as a reconnaissance and commando unit for the British Army.
The group was formed specifically to conduct deep penetration, covert reconnaissance patrols, and intelligence missions behind enemy lines. Sometimes she was also involved in combat operations.
Most patrols used up to 10 Chevrolet 30 cwt trucks.
