The BZ-38 was a Soviet fuel tanker introduced in 1938, primarily used to refuel aircraft of the Red Air Force. Based on the reliable GAZ-AAA three-axle truck, it featured a tank with a capacity of approximately 1,350 liters, along with specialized pumping and hose equipment designed for use at forward airfields. During World War II, the BZ-38 was a key refueling vehicle for Soviet military aviation, supplying fuel to fighter and reconnaissance aircraft near the front lines. Thanks to its simple and robust design, it remained in service throughout the war; a simplified version, the BZ-38U, was also produced starting in 1942.

For modelers, the BZ-38 is an interesting subject, as it represents the often-overlooked logistical aspect of the Soviet Air Force and is ideally suited for dioramas featuring forward airfields, maintenance scenes, or aircraft refueling operations.
