The Sturmgeschütz IV Sd.Kfz.167 is an assault gun based on the Panzer IV.
This was developed by Krupp from 1943 onwards. to meet the increasing demand for self-propelled guns from the front lines.
In addition, an Allied air raid in 1943 damaged the production facility for the Stug III, so that production had to be stopped.
The original type is equipped with the Sturmgeschütz III G combat compartment, which was mounted on the chassis of the Type H IV tank.
Production started in December 1943 and about 1100 were produced until April 1945.
