The Panzer III Ausf. L was a further development of the Panzer III Version J.
The armor of the front hull bow was reinforced to 57 mm, and the gun mantlet also received 20 mm thick spacer armor, which increased the weight of the tank by 200 kg.
To cope with the additional weight, the chassis was also strengthened.
The drive was a Maybach HL120TRM, a water-cooled V-12 engine with 300 hp.
A total of 635 Ausf. Ls were produced by the end of 1942, many of which were used on the Eastern Front and the Front in North Africa.
