Although the British A27M Cromwell tank did not enter service until the Allied invasion of Normandy in June 1944, its high speed and mobility earned it a very good reputation among Allied troops.
The majority of Cromwell tanks were armed with the standard 75mm ROQF gun, but the Mk.VI variant with its 95mm howitzer offered direct support to the infantry and was therefore never too far from the front.
