The ZBD-04A is a modern Chinese infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) of the People's Liberation Army, designed for transporting and supporting mechanized infantry. Its crew consists of three soldiers—commander, gunner, and driver—while it can also carry up to seven infantrymen under armor protection. Its armament includes a 100 mm cannon, a 30 mm autocannon, anti-tank guided missiles, and a 7.62 mm machine gun, making it effective against both infantry and armored targets.

Compared to previous versions, the ZBD-04A features improved armor protection, modern fire control and observation systems, and digital command and control tools that facilitate day and night operations. The vehicle is amphibious and can autonomously cross bodies of water, reaching speeds of approximately 20 km/h on water and up to 65 km/h on roads. The combination of mobility, protection, transport capacity and powerful armament makes the ZBD-04A one of the most important infantry fighting vehicles of the Chinese Land Forces and forms the backbone of numerous mechanized units.
