A versatile range of ammunition was available for the 7.5 cm KwK 37 L/24 and the virtually identical 7.5 cm StuK 37 L/24, meeting various battlefield requirements.

• The *Sprenggranate 34* (Sprgr. 34) high-explosive shell was the standard ammunition for engaging infantry, field positions, gun emplacements, and light fortifications.
• Smoke shells (*Nbgr.*) were used to create visual cover and conceal friendly movements.
• Armor-piercing shells, such as the *K.Gr.rot.Pz.*, were initially employed against armored targets; however, their effectiveness was limited by the low muzzle velocity of the short L/24 gun.

Anti-armor performance improved significantly with the introduction of the *Gr. 38 HL* hollow-charge (shaped-charge) round and its improved variants (HL/A, HL/B, and HL/C), as the hollow charge's penetration capability was largely independent of impact velocity. Consequently, despite its original design as a support weapon, the short 7.5 cm gun remained effective against more heavily armored vehicles well into the later years of the war.
