German U-Boot Typ XXVII B/ B5 "Seehund"

The midget submarine Type XXVII , also known as the "Seehund", was used by the German Kriegsmarine during the Second World War.
It was constructed in 1944 and had a two-man crew.
It was used in the last months of the war, sinking nine merchant ships and damaging three others. In contrast, 35 boats were lost, most of them due to bad weather.
The French Navy continued to use four captured boats until 1953.
