The Severn-class lifeboat is the largest in the RNLI fleet and was commissioned in 1995. As an all-weather boat, it withstands the harshest sea conditions and is particularly effective during long search and rescue operations on the high seas. When lives are in danger at sea, time is of the essence.
With a top speed of 25 knots and a range of 250 nautical miles, the Severn-class lifeboat can quickly reach casualties in calm or rough seas. It features a small, motorized Y-boat, ideal for rescues near rocks and in shallow waters, and can be lowered into the water using the Severn's integrated crane.
