The battleship Iowa (BB-61) of the US Navy was the first battleship of the Iowa class. During the Second World War it was first deployed in the Atlantic, later in the Pacific near Iwo Jima and Okinawa. After the Second World War it was assigned to the reserve and was reactivated for the Korean War. It was modernized in the meantime until it was decommissioned in 1990. Today it can be viewed as a museum ship in Los Angeles.
