The Sturmgeschütz III (StuG III) assault gun was developed by the German military as an armored vehicle equipped with a large-caliber artillery piece, directly pporting infantry units. Utilizing the chassis of the Panzer III tank, it was equipped with thicker armor and a more powerful main gun, enabling it to advance up to and smash through strong enemy defenses, making it one of the most trusted weapons among infantry. To counter the powerful Soviet tanks, the gun was lengthened, and from the middle of the war onwards, it became a formidable anti-tank weapon with strong offensive and defensive capabilities.
