Kampfgruppe Hansen was a German combat unit during the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944. It belonged to the 1st SS Panzer Division Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler and operated as part of the well-known Kampfgruppe Peiper, which was tasked with rapidly advancing through the American lines in the Ardennes and reaching key crossings of the Meuse River. Kampfgruppe Hansen was named after its commander and consisted of mixed units including Panzergrenadiers, tanks, reconnaissance, and support units. Their main task was to secure the flanks of the advancing German forces, eliminate pockets of resistance, and clear vital road links.

During the Battle of the Bulge, Kampfgruppe Hansen fought against strong American defenses, particularly in the Belgian Ardennes. Heavy fighting ensued around towns, road junctions, and supply routes. Like other German battle groups, they suffered from fuel shortages, difficult weather conditions, and increasingly fierce Allied resistance. The originally planned rapid breakthrough ultimately failed due to logistical problems and the successful American defense. With the collapse of the offensive in January 1945, Kampfgruppe Hansen, along with the other German units, was forced to retreat.
