Francis Stanley "Gabby" Gabreski (born Franciszek Stanislaw Gabryszewski; January 28, 1919 – January 31, 2002) was a Polish-American pilot in the United States Air Force who retired as a colonel after 26 years of military service.
He was the top US and US Army Air Force fighter ace over Europe during World War II and a US Air Force jet fighter ace in the Korean War.
Best known for shooting down 34 1/2 aircraft in dogfights, Gabreski is one of only seven US fighter pilots to become an ace in two wars.
