The first production design of the series was the C.30, a 11.3 m (37 ft) long autogyro radial engine with three-bladed rotors mounted on a tripod inclined towards the tail, with the control column extending behind both cockpits.
The engine was a five-cylinder 105 hp Armstrong Siddeley used in the C.19 series.
The rear of the tail unit had an inverted wing section to balance the torque generated by the propeller on the cylinder axis.
The wide-angle undercarriage had a pair of simple wire-braced legs and was fitted with a small tailwheel.
This model was launched in April 1933. It was followed by four improved machines designated C.30P (the P here for pre-series), which were distinguished by a square-pyramidal rotor mount and a reinforced undercarriage with three struts on each side. The C.30P used a more powerful (140 hp) seven-cylinder Armstrong Siddeley radial engine.
