Embraer EMB-312 Tucano

The Embraer EMB 312 Tucano is a Brazilian-developed, two-seat, turboprop-powered, low-wing trainer with counterinsurgency capabilities. The Brazilian Air Force initiated the EMB-312 project in late 1978. Design and development work began in 1979. The goal was a cost-effective, relatively simple new trainer with innovative features, which ultimately became the international standard for training aircraft. The prototype made its maiden flight in 1980, and the first production aircraft were delivered in 1983.
