The F-111 is a two-seat, twin-engine, variable-sweep wing aircraft with a semi-monocoque design. Its first flight took place on December 21, 1964.
The first production aircraft were delivered on July 18, 1967. A total of 563 F-111s were built.
The F-111A is an early variant of the F-111 family; 158 were built.
The FB-111 is a further development of the F-111 as a strategic bomber. The FB-111 is longer and can carry more fuel, but it doesn't have true intercontinental range; however, this is compensated for by its missile armament.
