The Convair F-106 Delta Dart was in service with the U.S. Air Force from the 1960s to the 1980s and was considered one of the best interceptors in the history of the U.S. Air Force.
It served as the primary all-weather interceptor of the Air Force and Air National Guard for over 29 years.
It is the primary "dance partner" of the Russian Tu-95 Bear tactical bombers.
The F-106B is the two-seat, combat-capable training version of the Delta Dart.
The additional seat allows the fuselage to offer better wing control, potentially reducing weight.
The design of the former weapons bay and door were also modified to accommodate the longer cockpit.
