Douglas AD-4W Skyraider

The Douglas Skyraider was manufactured immediately after World War II.
Despite its traditional piston engine, the Skyraider had an exceptionally long career in a time when jets were becoming widespread.
It made its first flight in 1945 and was not decommissioned until 1975.
She took part in several conflicts and proved her worth in Korea and Vietnam.
Distinguished by low-speed maneuverability, it could carry an impressive payload of over 3500 kg.
It was perfect for ground combat operations and was equipped with robust armor to minimize damage from the enemy.
The three-seat (one pilot and two observers) airborne “early warning” version AD-4W was developed for its robust and reliable design.
More than 150 units were built and it is characterized by the large "radome", the introduction of a radar post system for searching and detecting potential targets, and the introduction of an advanced communications system.
