Developed in the 1950s, the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk was one of the most iconic and popular light attack aircraft in aviation history.
Its compact size made it extremely maneuverable and ideal for use on aircraft carriers.
It featured a simple design with the characteristic low delta wings and small side air intakes, and was extremely functional for operational use.
By using the Pratt & Whitney J52 turbo engine, the Skyhawk was able to reach 700 mph (1170 km/h).
Armed with two 20mm cannons, it could carry a deadly attack load consisting of air-to-air missiles, air-to-surface missiles and free-falling bombs.
Due to its characteristics, the A-4 was a considerable commercial success.
