The Westland Lynx, a groundbreaking helicopter, was developed in the 1970s as a potential replacement for several helicopter types in British service and was produced in cooperation with the French manufacturer Sud Aviation.

Even during the prototype's maiden flight, it was clear that this was a very special aircraft. It set numerous speed records for helicopters and became famous for its incredible maneuverability.

The Lynx was used in various versions by the British Army and the Royal Navy and remained in service for 40 years.
