Before the start of the Second World War, the German Wehrmacht used a variety of vehicles in preparation for its Blitzkrieg tactics.
However, the "Schell" programme of 1940 called for a standardisation of vehicles for more efficient production.
One of the vehicles selected for deployment was the Steyr 1500A/01.
With its air-cooled 3.5-litre V8 engine and four-wheel drive, the vehicle proved successful, robust and reliable and was produced as a light truck, personnel carrier and staff car.
Its versatility made it a useful transport vehicle on all fronts.
