The cruiser tank Mk. IVa can be seen as an improved version of the Mk. III. Although it still had the 2-pounder (40 mm) cannon, it had reinforced armor. Although it was 1 ton heavier than the Mk. III, it still achieved the same top speed of 48 km/h. He was deployed with the British Expeditionary Force in France and North Africa.
