A three-volume, fully illustrated description of the operations of the German 2nd Panzer Division during the fighting in Normandy in the summer of 1944. The first part covers the period from the re-formation of the 2nd Panzer Division in the Arras area for use on the Normandy front to the fighting in the June / July 1944. This second part deals with the desperate attempts of the 2nd Panzer Division to stop the offensive of the Allied troops south of St. Lô at the end of July 1944. In the further course of the presentation it is about the attack of the 2nd Panzer Division on Mortain and finally the encirclement of the division with the trident symbol in the pocket of Chambois-Argentan. Around 400 photos and around 30 cards illustrate the text, reports and memories of former combatants.
