The TS-11 Iskra was designed by Tadeusz Sołtyk and manufactured at the WSK plant "PZL Mielec" in 1964-87.
It was intended to provide the Polish Air Force with a low-cost and safe training platform for jetilots.
In the 1970s, the TS-11 Iskra to D as a training version for fighter aircraft and the TS-11 Iskra to DF as a training version for reconnaissance aircraft entered production.
In 1975, 50 TS-11 Iskra bis D were sold to India, where they proved themselves at the Air Force Academy in Hakimpet near Hyderabad.
TS-11 bis D / DF aircraft served in Polish aviation for more than five decades, training fighter pilots.
They were decommissioned in December 2020....
TS-11 Iskra to D / DF aircraft were armed with a 23mm cannon and four underwing pylons for bombs or pods of MARS-4 unguided missiles.
