In 1939, the Messerschmitt Bf 109E was probably the best fighter aircraft in the world.
And so many air forces in Europe showed their interest in putting this type into service.
One of the first countries to receive the aircraft was Romania, mainly to protect the oil production in Ploesti.
One of the last countries to receive the aircraft was Slovakia, although it was a close ally of Germany at the time.
These two countries,used their Emils on the Eastern Front alongside the German Luftwaffe.
And some of their pilots became celebrities as pilots of these agile fighters.
